Located in Admiralty Bay, in the French Pass region (Western Marlborough Sounds), Hamilton Cottage Homestay is newly built and offers a rare opportunity to experience this private, north-facing waterfront property for the first time. The beach is just a 20-meter walk from the cottage, perfect for a swim or to launch the boat.
Hamilton Cottage is approximately two hours’ drive from Nelson or Blenheim via the French Pass-Port Ligar road into the Marlborough Sounds. D’Urville Island is only a 20-minute boat ride away.
Pricing & Availability
- Rate: $390.00 per night up to 7 nights. ( discount nightly rate after exceeding 7 night stay)
- Maximum occupancy: 4 people. Additional numbers and cost on request.
- Minimum stay: 2 nights
- Bedding: One Queen size double bed, two large size single beds. No charge for additional infants sleeping with parents.
- Payment: Payment deposit/bond to the amount of $390.00 to be paid at booking. No refunds for cancellations within 14 days of the booked start date unless due to special circumstances (e.g., weather restrictions to the property). Deposit/Bond refundable at end of stay, (conditions apply) i.e. damage, cleaning, Quest are expected to leave the property clean and tidy.
- Full Payment; To be paid in full prior to 14 days of occupancy.
Availability Notice: Not available between December 15th and January 15th.

Cottage Access & Vacate Times
- Check-in: From 2:00 PM
- Check-out: Prior to 11:00 AM.
If out fishing on the last day, guests must vacate the property by 5:30 PM.
Property Policies
- Only paying guests are permitted on the property.
- Strictly NO animals allowed.
Extra Costs:
- Cleaning Charge: $75.00 will come out of the Bond
(Refundable if the cottage and property are left clean and tidy.) - Rubbish Removal: Quest are expected to remove all rubbish.
- Bedding; sheets and covers: Supplied and to remain at property.
- Towels: $50.00 will be charged for each missing towel and taken from Bond. 4 towels only will be supplied to quest, all towels to remain at the property.
Facilities:
- Large outdoor deck, outdoor dinning table.
- Covered in cooking area.
- Queen double bed at main level; two large single beds on the upper level.
- Separate toilet with vanity.
- Separate shower.
- Hot and cold water (drinkable water via ultraviolet treatment)
- No TV.
- Starlink internet access provided (free)
- Fridge and small freezer.
- Microwave
- Cooktop
- Coffee machine for Dolce Gusto capsule type.
- Jug
- Toaster
- Normal kitchen utensils
- Bait/fish freezer and filleting table.
- Cray fish copper cooker is available
What You Can Expect to Enjoy at Hamilton Cottage:
- Safe swimming and snorkeling at the beach— you may even be lucky enough to swim with the dolphins that frequent the bay.
- Canoe fishing if you have one.
- Spin fishing for kids to catch Kahawai and Gurnard from the beach.
- Glowworms
- Star watch at night.
- A variety of bird life on the property, including owls and penguins.
Boat Trailer Access:
- Boats can be launched from the beach. 4WD recommended.
- Durville Island fishing and diving is 15minutes by boat.
- The driveway down to cottage is suitable for boats up to 7 meters of the Te Towaka – Port Ligar rd; 4WD and braked trailers are recommended. (For larger boats, please inquire first.)
