Water Front Homestay

Located in Admiralty Bay, in the French Pass region (Western Marlborough Sounds), Hamilton Cottage Homestay is newly built and offers a rare opportunity to experience this private, north-facing waterfront property for the first time. The beach is just a 20-metre walk from the cottage, perfect for a swim or launching a boat.

Hamilton Cottage is approximately a two-hour drive from Nelson or Blenheim via the French Pass–Port Ligar Road into the Marlborough Sounds. D’Urville Island is only a 20-minute boat ride away.

Pricing & Availability

• Rate: $390.00 per night up to 7 nights (Discounted nightly rate available for stays exceeding 7 nights)
• Maximum occupancy: 4 people. Additional guests and costs are available on request.
• Minimum stay: 2 nights
• Bedding: One Queen size double bed, two large size single beds. No charge for additional infants sleeping with parents.
• Payment: A deposit/bond of $405.00 is required at the time of booking. No refunds are available for cancellations within 14 days of the booked start date unless due to special circumstances (e.g. weather restrictions affecting access to the property). The deposit/bond is refundable at the end of the stay (conditions apply), including no damage and satisfactory cleaning. Guests are expected to leave the property clean and tidy.
• Full Payment: The full balance must be paid no later than 14 days prior to occupancy.

Availability Notice: Not available between 15 December and 15 January.

Cottage Access & Vacate Times

• Check-in: From 2:00 PM
• Check-out: Prior to 11:00 AM.
  If fishing on the final day, guests must vacate the property by 5:30 PM.

Property Policies

• Only paying guests are permitted on the property.
• Strictly no animals allowed.

Extra Costs:

• Cleaning charge: $75.00 (deducted from the bond)
  (Refundable if the cottage and property are left clean and tidy)
• Rubbish removal: $30.00 (deducted from the bond)
  (Also refundable if all rubbish is removed from the property)
• Bedding (sheets and covers): Supplied and must remain at the property.
• Towels: Four towels are supplied. A charge of $50.00 per missing towel will be deducted from the bond. All towels must remain at the property.

• Hot and cold water (drinkable water via ultraviolet treatment)

• Coffee machine (Dolce Gusto capsules)

• Standard kitchen utensils
• Bait/fish freezer and filleting table
• Crayfish copper cooker available

What You Can Expect to Enjoy at Hamilton Cottage:

• Safe swimming and snorkeling at the beach — you may even be lucky enough to swim with dolphins that frequent the bay
• Canoe fishing (if you bring your own canoe)
• Spin fishing for children to catch Kahawai and Gurnard from the beach
• Glowworms
• Stargazing at night
• A variety of bird life on the property, including owls and penguins

Boat Trailer Access:

• Boats can be launched directly from the beach (4WD recommended).
• D’Urville Island fishing and diving is approximately 15 minutes by boat.
• The driveway to the cottage is suitable for boats up to 7 meters via Te Towaka–Port Ligar Road. 4WD vehicles and braked trailers are recommended. (For larger boats, please enquire prior to booking.)

‘Wow, what a treat! My father and I spent the night in this unique accommodation. Graham was an excellent host, providing fresh home-grown fruit, eggs and milk.
